The report
Four units, purchased. 1,200 timed messages total, split between open sky, dense conifer canopy, a steep valley, and inside a steel-frame building.
Open sky is strong: 599 of 600 delivered, median 47 seconds, 95th percentile 2 minutes 11 seconds. Under canopy the median stretches to 6 minutes 20 seconds and 29 messages never arrived. Plan comms windows accordingly.
Ingress and impact are both class-leading. Thirty minutes at 1 m produced nothing in any of the four units, and twenty drops onto rock left cosmetic scarring only.
The mark against it is serviceability: 66. The battery is sealed. At end of life this is a disposal, not a repair, which is a real cost for a fleet of 200.
